For a planning session or a long writing project, a subtle blue-to-violet background can add color around your work. Open Backgrounds and select Gradient, then use the Start color and End color swatches to choose your combination. Enter Hex or RGB values when you want a precise match.
Choose how the colors flow
The preview contains eight direction arrows and a center circle. Select an arrow for a linear blend, or the circle for a radial gradient. This demo uses the bottom-right direction, so blue flows diagonally into violet. Changes appear in the workspace as you adjust the controls.
Keep the result as gentle as you like
Apply the gradient, then lower Opacity to soften it against your existing light or dark interface. The demo finishes at 65, keeping the current font and color palette. You can reopen the editor with Change background or select None to remove the backdrop. Gradient customization requires StylerGPT Power access.
About ChatGPT gradient backgrounds
How do I add a gradient background to ChatGPT?
Install StylerGPT and open its panel on ChatGPT. Select Backgrounds, then Gradient. In the Gradient generator, choose a direction or Radial, set your Start color and End color, and select Apply. Use Opacity to adjust how strongly the gradient appears. These background controls require StylerGPT Power access.
Can I use my own colors?
Yes. Select the Start color or End color swatch to open the Color picker. Choose a color visually or enter its Hex or RGB values, then select Apply to return to the Gradient generator. The demo combines blue and violet, with softer colors in light mode and deeper colors in dark mode.
What is the difference between linear and radial gradients?
A linear gradient blends the start color into the end color along a direction. The eight arrows cover horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions. The center circle selects Radial, which blends outward from the center. The demo selects the bottom-right arrow for a diagonal blend.
Can I preview a gradient before applying it?
Yes. Changing the direction or a color previews the gradient in your ChatGPT workspace. Apply in the color picker keeps that endpoint color; Apply in the Gradient generator confirms the gradient and closes the editor. Cancel in the generator restores the gradient that was selected before you opened it.
Will a gradient change my font or color palette?
No. The gradient changes the background while keeping your existing font and interface palette. Lower Opacity for a gentler result, as shown at 65 in this demo. Choose None under Backgrounds to remove the backdrop, or choose Image to use a wallpaper instead.
Does the demo change my ChatGPT settings?
No. This automatic demonstration uses a fictional workspace and follows the website’s light or dark mode. Pause and Replay control the sequence. Opening the panel from the pinned toolbar icon is a presentation shortcut used in the demo.
