Group chats around the work
A product launch can span customer interviews, planning and design reviews. Create a main folder for the launch, then a Research subfolder for the conversations behind your decisions. Keep chats in either level, with one folder assignment per conversation.
Give folders a name and a purpose
Choose New folder in the sidebar. Add a clear name and an optional description to remember what belongs there, then pick a color and icon. Create subfolders from the main folder’s menu. Use Edit whenever the name or purpose changes.
Move conversations where they belong
Drag a chat onto a folder, or use Assign to a folder in its menu. Assigned chats are hidden from Recents by default, keeping the sidebar focused. You can change that preference in the folder settings. Organization stays local to StylerGPT and does not turn the folder into a ChatGPT Project.
Start directly in the sidebar
Enable Chat folders in Toolbox and start organizing without syncing an archive first. The separate Manage folders tool uses the Chat archive and becomes available after its first sync. This demo focuses on the sidebar workflow.
About Chat Folders
How do I create folders in ChatGPT?
Chat folders is enabled by default. If it is off, enable it in the StylerGPT Toolbox. In the ChatGPT sidebar, choose New folder, enter a name, optionally add a description, choose a color and icon, then select New folder.
Can I create subfolders?
Yes. Open a main folder’s menu and choose Create subfolder. Chat Folders supports main folders and one level of subfolders. Conversations can belong directly to either level.
How do I move a conversation into a folder?
Drag a conversation from the sidebar onto the destination folder. You can also open the conversation’s menu and choose Assign to a folder. A conversation has one folder assignment at a time.
Can I move and customize folders later?
Yes. Use Edit in the folder menu to change its name, description, color or icon. Move folders by drag and drop or with Move folder. Nesting is limited to one level; a folder with subfolders cannot itself become a subfolder.
Does creating a folder require Chat archive sync?
No. Creating folders and organizing conversations in the sidebar does not require an archive sync. Manage folders is a separate view that becomes available after the first Chat archive sync; its search and filters use that local archive.
Where is the organization stored?
StylerGPT keeps folder data and conversation assignments locally in the browser extension. This is a sidebar organization feature, not a native ChatGPT Project, and it does not give ChatGPT shared instructions or knowledge from the chats in a folder.
What does this demo show?
The automatic demo uses fictional conversations. It starts with Chat folders switched off, enables it, creates Launch workspace with a description and color, adds Research as a subfolder, and drags a conversation into it. Pause and Replay control playback. Opening the panel from the pinned icon is a demonstration convention; the real presentation depends on your browser and extension settings.
