Start with a video worth revisiting
A customer research workshop contains ideas you want to share with your product team. Enable YouTube Summarizer in StylerGPT’s Toolbox, open the video on YouTube and click the summary icon in its playback controls. The video needs an available transcript.
Choose a summary or key takeaways
Pick an output language and select Summary for a connected overview, or Highlights for the most important points. The demo chooses an English summary of a video without chapters. Videos with chapters can produce chapter-based summaries with links back to the relevant moments.
Move the transcript into ChatGPT
Click Go to retrieve the available transcript and open ChatGPT with the video title, transcript and output instructions. Keep Auto submit enabled to send the prompt automatically, or disable it to review the prepared text before sending.
Use the answer as a starting point
Read the recap, ask a follow-up question or turn the ideas into a plan for your team. ChatGPT writes the answer from the supplied transcript, so check important details against the video. StylerGPT does not create missing captions or guarantee a particular response.

How do I summarize a YouTube video with ChatGPT?
Open StylerGPT on ChatGPT, select Toolbox and enable YouTube Summarizer. On a YouTube watch page, click the summary icon in the video controls. Choose the language, output and Auto submit setting, then click Go. StylerGPT reads the available transcript and opens ChatGPT with a prepared prompt. You need access to ChatGPT to generate the answer.
What is the difference between Summary and Highlights?
Summary asks ChatGPT for a coherent overview, usually two or three paragraphs for a video without chapters. When chapters are available, it requests a paragraph for each chapter with a link to that point in the video. Highlights requests ten key takeaways with timestamp links. These are instructions to ChatGPT; the actual answer can vary.
Can I choose the language of the summary?
Yes. Select the output language in the window before clicking Go. StylerGPT adds that language to the instructions sent to ChatGPT. This chooses the language of the answer, not the audio or captions on YouTube.
Can I review the prompt before it is sent?
Yes. Set Auto submit to Disabled before clicking Go. The prepared transcript and instructions are placed in the ChatGPT message box for you to review and send. With Auto submit enabled, StylerGPT attempts to submit the prompt automatically.
Does it work with videos that have no transcript?
No. YouTube Summarizer relies on a transcript available on the YouTube page; it does not transcribe the audio itself. If no transcript can be retrieved, it displays an error instead of inventing a summary. Transcript availability and accuracy affect the result.
Where is the video summarized?
StylerGPT retrieves the transcript in your browser and prepares the prompt. ChatGPT generates the summary after the prompt is submitted, so the transcript becomes part of the conversation you send to ChatGPT. The demo on this page only simulates this flow with a fictional video and sample answer.
