Capture a checklist while you work
Use a global note for a release checklist you need across conversations. The demo starts in a new chat, opens Notes, adds a title and two practical reminders, then saves the note locally.
Keep context with the right chat
For decisions tied to an existing conversation, create a Current chat note. Switch to All to see notes across conversations in the current account and workspace. A note from a different chat provides a shortcut back to that conversation.
Highlight, save and retrieve
Select a phrase and use Bold or Italic to mark key details. Save returns you to the list, where the preview renders the formatting. Search by title, note text or conversation title, then reopen a result to edit it or copy its title and body.
Local notes with explicit saving
Choose Save when your changes are ready. Notes warns before discarding unsaved edits and asks for confirmation before deletion. Notes stay in the browser where you created them; they are not a cross-device notebook.
About Notes
How do I open Notes in ChatGPT?
Open StylerGPT, select Toolbox and enable Notes if it is off. Use the Notes tab on the right side of ChatGPT to open the panel. The demo uses the extended tab with its label and count; Settings also offers an icon-only compact tab.
What is the difference between chat and global notes?
A chat note belongs to an existing conversation. Global notes are not tied to a conversation. When you create a note from an existing chat, choose Current chat or Global notes before saving. In a new chat, only Global notes is available. The scope of a saved note cannot be changed.
How do I save and format a note?
Choose New note, enter a title or body, then select Save. You can also use Ctrl/Cmd + S in the editor. Bold and Italic wrap selected text in asterisks; the note preview displays that formatting. Reopen a saved note to edit, copy or delete it. Changes are not saved automatically.
Can I search notes from other conversations?
Yes. Select All and enter a search term. Search matches note titles, bodies and conversation titles in the current account and workspace. Open a note from another conversation and use Go to conversation to return to its source.
Where are my notes stored?
Notes stay in local extension storage in this browser, separated by ChatGPT account and workspace. They do not synchronize across browsers or devices. A global note is global within that account and workspace, not across all accounts. The website demo uses fictional data and does not save notes.
How many notes can I save?
Free includes 3 notes and Pro includes 5. Power removes the note-count limit. Each note supports a title of up to 200 characters and a body of up to 20,000 characters. Local storage capacity still applies.
