See your folders and conversations together
Manage Folders brings your folder tree and synchronized conversations into one view. Start with No folder to find chats that have not been assigned, or choose a folder to review its contents. The tree also shows nested subfolders and conversation counts for the selected archive filter.
Find the chats that belong together
In the demo, searching for “research” narrows three unassigned conversations to a customer research synthesis and an interview question list. Search checks titles within the selected folder. Active chats, Archived chats and All chats let you choose which part of your local archive to browse.
Move a selection into its destination
Select both conversations, choose Assign to a folder and pick Research library. They leave No folder and appear together in their destination. You can also drag an individual conversation onto a folder. Remove from folder clears an assignment without deleting the chat.
Keep the archive prerequisite clear
With Power access or an active trial, enable Chat archive and wait for its first synchronization before opening Manage folders. This view uses the archive stored on this device for your current ChatGPT account. Folder creation and editing follow the extension’s folder limits; search only covers conversations that have synchronized.

How do I open Manage Folders?
With Power access or an active trial, enable Chat Folders in the StylerGPT Toolbox. Manage folders appears beside the Folders heading in ChatGPT’s sidebar after the first Chat archive synchronization finishes. Enable Chat archive in Advanced in the in-page panel, or Settings in the sidebar panel. The demo starts with a synchronized archive.
What can I search and filter?
Search matches conversation titles within the selected folder, including No folder. Choose Active chats, Archived chats or All chats to filter the synchronized conversations. The search text stays in place when you switch folders; it does not search message content.
Can I move several conversations at once?
Yes. Select conversations with their checkboxes, choose Assign to a folder and pick a destination. The header checkbox selects all matching conversations in the current view, including matches beyond the rows already loaded. Changing folders or the archive filter clears the selection.
Does removing a chat from a folder delete it?
No. Remove from folder clears the folder assignment. The conversation appears under No folder and remains in ChatGPT. Moving chats between folders does not archive or delete them either.
Can I manage subfolders and folder details?
Yes. Create a main folder with New folder, or use a folder’s options to edit it, create a subfolder, move it or delete it. Folders support multiple levels of nesting. Available actions also depend on folder limits.
Why are some conversations missing?
Manage Folders shows conversations in the local synchronized archive for the current ChatGPT account. Check the selected folder, search text and active or archived filter. Conversations that have not synchronized are not listed. Turning off Chat archive removes the local archive and makes Manage folders unavailable until it is synchronized again.
